Video Merge & Split App Reviews
nice work
but please implement a percentage notification on the Icon in the Dock
I’ve only used this to split videos but it worked as described, and much faster than I expected! The slider was a bit of a pain to get where I wanted so I opted to click the show button and input the times directly. Thanks for programing this, I look forward to using it!
Great app
Very easy to use
I used this app to split some video files in 2. All the videos were needed to be split at roughly the halfway mark. It was easy. Only 4 stars because you can’t seem to split within a frame, so I wasn’t able to get the “exact” transition all the time, but it was so easy to use. I haven’t tried the merge feature.
Works like a charm!
Simple and easy to use. Works great. Very fast. Thanks!
It does what it says simpley and quickly. There are a few features that should be implemented but are not. Such as save next to original, the ability to change the window size and the like. The buttons and look are a little different than the rest of Yosemite but you can get past it. Totally worth the modest price. I just hope to see things imrpove.
This app performs very well what it proposes
Easy to understand settings and pretty intuitive to use.
The application does not merge different video resolutions! This is very bad and stupid! This makes the application completely useless! Fix it, then you will earn high scores! :(
Best splitter!
Allows to set the number of sections to split into and does the job!
:(
Wow .. Tried to open my first clip and it’s just crashed :/
I purchased this software to merge several video clips of differing resolutions together, the description seeming to imply that this was possible, and that you could set an output resolution and have scaling or letterboxing for videos smaller than the full resolution. However, the program refuses to merge video files unless they are already at the same resolution. Before buying this software, please note that it will not merge files if your video resolutions do not match.
I bought this mainly to extract a video clip from a movie, and it worked great for that! It was super fast too. Before buying this, I searched online for an easy way to extract a video clip from a movie so that I could put it on Youtube or something, but they all seemed somewhat complicated, or involved downloading expensive software, but this did exactly what I needed for $2… The only thing I hope could be improved is the millisecond scrubbing, then It would be great!
I have a video that I want to merge (.mp4) from about 300 parts. If I add all the sies the program crashes. Added in batches by 10 and finnaly when I hit convert did not work, not wants the resolution to be the same. Useless pice of software, don’t waste your money as I did !!!
There seem to be no instructions and it is not intuitive. If you search help for the simplest thing like “split video” “how to split video” you get nothing. I messed around with it for a half hour then gave up. Waste of money. When i did choose a spot in the video and tell it to split, it was very slow to split it and what that does is cut the video in 2… fine for people who just want to take one big chunk out of a video, but if you want to trim out some parts and keep other parts, this is too slow and awkward and complicated. …. There is a program called Avidemux which does basic simple editing very well, trim out the parts you don’t want and keep the parts you do want with no quality loss - it works on Mac. However it does not handle WMVs and some other formats… this program “video merge & split" is pitiful…. if the people who wrote it can’t even bother to give you a few simple steps re how it works, that’s sad. ——— Apple’s tips for writing a great review here say “keep reviews short…” —— I think that is a mistake and apple should retract it — it is actually very helpful if reviewers give detailes about what the program does and does not do —— that would help people avoid programs that don’t perform, like this.
I bought this to have a simple way of splitting long videos. It does exactly that. You can use a slider to set the split points, or you can enter the split points by time in HH:MM:SS format. It split a 2GB 2.6 hour mp4 video into 4 unequal segments in about a minute.
I bought this app to merge several videos that had been ripped from vhs. Apparently, all the videos have to havet the exact same resolution for theme to merge. My video sizes are all about the same size, but some vary 5-10 pixels in size. So because of this I cannot merge my videos.
Me encanta
Este programa me facilita el trabajo. !Lo amo!
Wanted to like and use
It appears to be a simple interface. However, The workspace provided to trim a video is incredibly small. So I thought I would expand the workspace and could not find any way to do so. Then I attempted to contact support. It appears to only be available in some particular Asian language, which I am not. So, dead in the waters.
Crashes on merge
I bought this tool for simple editing exactly like the tool states: splitting and merging files. Merging: Never worked. Always craches. Splitting: It only splits at seconds intervals. I need to cut at any frame, not just with resolution of a second. Conclusion: wasted money on non-working tool.
Easy to use and does what it says
I really like it because I don't require anything complicated or involved to use- it merges files whch isexactly what I need perioduically.
Simple and to the point
I needed a simple means to merge .ts files and this provided that. Simply drag and drop the files you wanted merged into the system window and press merge. That's it. It lets you export to a variety of other formats. The interface is a bit clucky but it is a fine program.
Works to split videos
Simple and effective to split videos. I wish the interface was more up-to-date, though. I haven't tried it yet to merge videos.
Preview broken in Big Sur
Great app for splitting videos. Seems developer has abandoned it. Still works but previews are now broken.
As advertised
Does exactly what is says it is going to do
Doesn’t work at all
I’d give it zero stars if I could. This program doesn’t do anything. I opened my file, chose the split point, clicked “ready” and start and…not a single thing happened. It did make a nice annoying sound, so I guess that part works.
Slow, but capable
Many Canon camcorders limit file sizes to 2GB. This app allows me to join the 2GB files into larger files without having to transcode them in iMovie or Final Cut Pro. It is slow, but it works. Definitely worth the $2.
Potentially nice, but ...
This app has the potential to be very nice, but I’ve noticed a serious bug that disqualifies it. When merging videos with sound, the sound of the first video comes through fine, but the sound of subsequent videos disappears. I’ve tried various output options, but nothing helps … any sound encoded into the 2nd and following videos doesn’t play. Fix this, and maybe it would be a 4 or 5 star app. Otherwise, one star at best.
More like Video Split & Not Merge
This app works for splitting videos. I have used it several times trim out the boring parts of videos where I pointed my gopro at a hummingbird feeder and got rid of the portions that don’t have any hummingbirds. Merging, though, is another story. I have tried to merge various videos that have the same encoding, resolution, and frame rate. The only difference when I use the info button for each clip is on the Video: line where the one says, say, 581 kb/s and the other is 570 kb/s. These have all failed. In a desperate attempt to see if merging works at all I took a video that is 1:17:58 and split it in half (which, as usual, worked). Then I merged them. I did get an output file, but it was now 1:18:08. Further examination revealed that split wasn’t that awesome. I was supposed to end up with two files that were each about 38:59, but the second one is actually 39:09. So the merged file has a repeated section of 9 seconds. To summarize, splitting kind of works as long as what you’re trying to do is get rid of boring bits. Merging only seems to work if you’re merging pieces of files that you previously split, and then the split points might not actually be what you intend.
Sorely need update to include H265
This app appears to be good but it doesn’t support H265 encoded video thus limits its usability. Most apps in its genre have upgraded their functionality to include h265 encoded videos. Hope the developer does the same.
Re-encodes merges even when the sources and output are all the same format
It should really be fast to merge 2 videos of exactly the same codecs, resolution But it’s not fast. It’s slow. The only reason this could be is because it’s re-encoding something that’s already encoded. Probably stripping out all my multiple subtitles and audio tracks.
Intuitive, and fast
Having edited an hour long iMovie i needed to split it into scenes for upload or DVD. The Split was fast and I was able to set the cut points in a list rather than scrobbling with a dodgy cursor. The speed of the ap allowed me to tweak the cut points that wre a little off and redo the whole thing. Great price for the app functionality. Have not tried the merge capability as that was not my need
Not easy to use
The interface is very, very basic. If you need to chop a large video into many pieces, finding the precise cut points is very hard. However, the split function does appear to work once you pick the split points.
Does intended job
Performs its intended function very well. As noted elsewhere, all individual files must be at same same resolution or it won’t work. But for 2 bucks, I’m quite happy to have this specialized tool.
It’s worth the money
It’s not frame accurtae for editing, but for two bucks, what do you expect? It is accurate to the second, and if you want something simple to cut and merge… It does the job. I give it ma thumbs up :)
Me likes Video Merge and Split
Simple and sweet. No frills, but very effective in trimming out the dull, undesireable parts of raw video. Let’s you segment the keeper parts of your video, and keeps your original file intact. You can even save the trimmings just in case there is something you realize you missed. Well worth the $2 purchase.
Video Mergee & Split
A terrific program, I use is several times a day. Very user friendly. There is no loss of video or sound quality. I simply love it !!! Thanks for creating it and sharing it with us that enjoy editing our own videos !!! GREAT PROGRAM I would give it 10 stars if I could. I recieve nothing in return for this review.
this version keep crashing
this version doesnt work on macos 10.12.3 it keep crashing, waiting for an update
